I have been dealing with foot pain for about 3 weeks and so I finally broke down and tried a different shoe. And... it was heavenly! It was definetly the shoes! Now that my foot is getting better, my shin splints are the same! I got shin splints about 2 weeks ago and they have not gone away. I am eating bananas and trying to stretch as much as i can but they are still there.
This week was very difficult for me. I ran tuesday... and was only able to run about 4 miles. My foot and shin splints were KilLiNg me! I had to walk back. Then, I bought the new shoes and tried them the next day. I ran about 4 miles that night with the new shoes. It was so much better!
Today... was my long run day. I ran 7 miles and it was tough! The first 3 miles-I had the worst shin splints. Oh man. I was having a tough time but after that they went away and I was fine. The 2nd half for me is always easier though. I felt good and was trying to keep at a good pace even going up the hills.
I still have a long way to go though. 13 miles is going to be tough for me but I am determined to run it. I need to kick the training up a notch. I only have 5 weeks left!
