6 weeks ago-October 27th, I started the Couch to 5k program. My friend Liz introduced me to it and told me to just try it for 9 weeks and see how I like it. First of all, I hate to run. Second, I hate to run! I would much rather swim or do the eliptical. But I decided to just try it. It was so hard for me to start because it is learning how to run and in 9 weeks you should be able to run 30 minutes or a 5k straight! 6 weeks into it, I can honestly say I am learning to like running! SHOCKER! I know. Somedays are harder for me than others but that is with any work out program. I actually look forward now to my runs at night.
Last saturday I ran my first 20 minute run and I thought I could never do it. But I did! I felt like shouting for joy when 20 minutes were up! Now, I know that may not be much for many of you but for me that was a big accomplishment!
This week though, I have to say I did not complete my 25 minute run. I was supposed to go today, but it was like -1 and windy outside and I just could not get myself to the gym! But come Monday, I will run that 25 minutes because today I was very disappointed in myself. The weather was just an excuse and that is why I am overweight...excuses not to exercise!
"Rather than aiming for being perfect, just aim to be a little bit better today than you were yesterday."

Thanks for putting this out there.....great idea!
You rock! Can't wait to see how the 25 mins go tomorrow!
yeah!! i'm glad i could inspire you somewhat. :) i'm needing some inspiration myself. i haven't updated my blog in awhile... i guess progress is just slow for me.
as for running, i know a lot of people who are really into it, including some of my siblings. i've tried a couple of times, but i can't seem to do it. but i'll have to check out that program you linked to see if i could do it. it appears that once you get into it, you really love it.
Way to go! I started running in the spring & it was something I had never done & never enjoyed before. Here I am nine months later & addicted to running! I am so proud of you for setting a goal and sticking to it. I never would have imagined myself running 5 miles & last summer I ran a half marathon. You can do anything you put your mind to. You are awesome! I think your 20 minute run is a HUGE accomplishment. Keep up the good work!
Yeah! The blog is a great idea. I hope I have some yummy recipes and stuff to add! Here is one to get you started... I love it since I love pumpkin pie. It is called "Pumpkin Fluff" and satisfies the pumpkin craving pretty well without a lot of calories. You just combine 1 can pumpkin puree and 1 container of Fat Free Cool Whip. The pumpkin is great for you and it tastes so yummy. All of a sudden I am debating whether that is all you put in or not... and I can't find the thing I wrote it down on! Maybe add some cinnamon, nutmeg, etc.
